Private tutor in Oak Park, IL
Education
Duke University Bachelor or Science in Biomedical Engineering - 2012 Graduated cum laude with distinction. University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine - 2017
Experience
As an undergrad at Duke, I worked as a peer tutor for math, science, and engineering courses. I also worked as a private tutor high school students in AP Calculus, Physics, Biology, and Chemistry as well as SAT math. I continued to tutor these subjects through dental school at Pitt, and I recently moved to Oak Park to begin residency at Loyola University Medical Center in oral and maxillofacial surgery. I can drive to meet with students in Chicago and the west suburbs. I am a strong believer in active learning and the "Tell, Show, Do, Apply" teaching technique. If is very difficult for s student to master the material without completing problems on their own. Students often feel comfortable with the material when their instructor "shows" them how to do it, but they are lost when the exam comes and they must "do" the problem for themselves for the first time. By having my students do problems and teach them back to me, they are able to develop a deeper understanding of the material. I also like to employ many real-life applications to the problems so that they are more relatable to the students. By applying the problems to a more practical real-life situation, it is easier to remember the concepts and makes learning more fun. I can tutor in any level of college or high school math, science, or engineering courses, as well as SAT and DAT prep. Please contact me for more information.
